S. Krishnan, the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology in India, recently announced that the country has experienced a significant resurgence in its electronics manufacturing sector over the past five years. As a result, India is now actively working on creating a favorable environment for the semiconductor industry with the goal of becoming a global leader in this technology field.
India is determined to seize the opportunity to lead in the semiconductor technology revolution, as mentioned by Krishnan during his speech at the 10th Annual Forum of the Public Affairs Forum of India in New Delhi. Krishnan also highlighted India's growing capabilities in the manufacturing sector, particularly in the context of mobile phones. He pointed out that a decade ago, India used to import 98% of its mobile phones, but now it has started exporting them.
The primary focus now lies on semiconductor missions, and India has initiated "10 million semiconductor missions." This signifies the country's commitment to developing a robust semiconductor ecosystem.
Additionally, during the event, Sanjay Verma, the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, discussed the geopolitical aspects and their influence on global trade. Geopolitical factors have a significant impact on international trade, and these aspects were likely a part of the broader discussion.
